  1. Know who you are dealing with. VinylBid's feedback system allows you to view your seller's user history, as well as to review the opinions/comments left by other members about their experience with the particular seller. For more information, consult our Feedback FAQ.
  2. Read the item description carefully. Make sure that the item description is clear, and that there are no vague or unspecified terms appearing in the listing. If you have any questions whatsoever about the item's condition, appearance etc. be sure to e-mail the seller through our 'ask seller a question' form that can be accessed from every auction listing page.
  3. Review Shipping & Handling Terms. Always review the shipping and handling terms to which you are agreeing before even placing a bid. Be sure to note where the seller is willing to send the item, how much shipping will cost, along with the method of shipping/packaging the seller will use for sending you the item.
Warning: In some cases, a seller could potentially be charging an unreasonable amount for shipping & handling, and you could end up paying more than you expected. If you have any questions about this or any other related issues, always contact the seller through our "ask seller a question" form before placing a bid.
  4. For high-priced items, use an Escrow Service. If you are the winning bidder on a high-priced item such as gear, use an escrow service for extra protection. An escrow agency such as www.tradenable.com acts as a third party agency which collects payment from you (the buyer), and only releases it to the seller once you have inspected the item. For more information, consult our Escrow Services section.
  5. Get Insured. Ask your seller about the cost of insuring your item, in the case that it may become damaged as a result of shipping. Also, be sure to enquire about the method your seller will use for sending you the item.
Remember: Ask first before placing a bid.
  6. Get a Tracking Number. If your item is being sent to you by registered mail or courier, ask the seller for the item's tracking number. This way, you can verify whether or not the item was sent as well as track down its location.
  7. Keep your Payment receipt. Whether you have paid using an online payment service, cashier's check or money order, always keep your receipt of payment. This evidence may be useful in case a dispute arises between you and the seller.
  8. Leave accurate feedback. If a seller provided you with an easy, hassle free transaction, don't be afraid to say so! If the transaction was difficult and/or did not meet your satisfaction, be sure to leave specific comments about this as well.
Remember: The feedback system together with the Security Squad is VinylBid's main line of defense against fraudulent activity on our site. Helping weed out bad members is a way of helping yourself, along with the entire VinylBid community.
