| How
do I become a seller? | It's
actually very simple. If you are already registered with VinylBid, fill out our
credit card submission form. VinylBid
requires credit card information of sellers in order to charge listing, closing,
and special feature fees. This way, you will be permitted to post items for auction
using the username and password you have registered with the site. |
| How
do I list an item? | Use
the "Sell" button found at the top of every auction page in the VinylBid navigation
panel. Remember, you must be a fully registered user with a valid credit card
on file in order to sell an item. If you haven't yet submitted your credit card
information over our secure connection, do so through our credit
card submission form. There
are also a number of things you have to consider when selling your item. For a
full briefing, visit our Step-By-Step Seller's Guide.
Below are a few terms involved in the selling process that you should know (click
on each for a quick definition): |
| How
do I add a photo? | When
filling out the Auction Description and Details section of the auction form, you
will be asked to enter a link for your item's image (if applicable). As well,
you have the choice of having VinylBid act as the web-hosting service for your
image, in which case you need only upload the relevant image from the second page
of the Add Auction form. This way, you don't need to look for image hosting from
a third party, and do not need to provide VinylBid with the image URL. (FYI, there
is a $0.50 charge for uploading an image to VinylBid's servers) |
| Does
it cost anything to be a seller on VinylBid ? |
Yes. We charge Sellers a Listing Fee which
depends on the starting bid value of the item, along with a Closing (commission)
Fee which is a percentage of the final sale (assuming your item is sold, that
is). As well, any additional features such as image hosting, listing upgrades,
etc. have their respective charges. For a full explication of our fees, check
out our Fees & Credits section. Buyers
may place bids at no charge. |
| How
do I pay for using VinylBid? | When
you create a Seller Account with VinylBid by submitting your credit card information,
you let us offer you the convenience of paying with a credit card. We charge your
credit card at the end of the month for commissions due from the previous month's
transactions, along with any listing fees and special feature fees, less any credits.
Our fees are refundable in certain instances. To find out more, read our Fees
& Credits. |
| Why
was my entry rejected? | Your
listing will be rejected if you have not yet submitted credit card information
upon registering with VinylBid. Registering on the site is not the same thing
as becoming a seller; see How do I become a seller?
Your submission may also be rejected if your membership has been disabled due
either to a suspension or permanent expulsion from the VinylBid community. |
| Can
I relist my unsold item? | Yes
you can, just click on the Relist This Auction link which appears on your
expired auction page in order to relist the auction. This way, you don't have
to re-enter all of the item information again in order to sell the item. |
| What
happens when an auction closes? | At
the conclusion of the auction, you will be sent an e-mail identifying the winning
bidder. The winning bidder receives an e-mail identifying him/her as the winner.
Our auction is based on a five (5) day settlement period, during which you and
the buyer should make your own, mutually satisfactory arrangements for payment
and delivery. If, by Day 8, we are told nothing to the contrary, we assume a satisfactory
conclusion to the auction of your item. |
| What
if I can't get a hold of the winning bidder? | If
after 5 days of the auction's close, you have been unable to contact the winning
bidder, you should follow the procedure below. It's important to follow this procedure,
to preserve any right you may have to a refund or credit of our Closing (commission)
Fee. Unlike other auctions, we will try at least limited intervention to assist
you. Step 1: Try
as best you can to get a hold of the winning bidder. Just because you can't get
a hold of them right away does not mean that they are attempting to get out of
the deal. Just like you, they are real people with real lives, and something may
well have come up. Five (5) days should allow sufficient time for settlement.
Step 2: Notify VinylBid within
3 days (following the preliminary 5-Day period) that you have a non-paying bidder
by filling out the Non-Paying Bidder Form
which let's us know about the status of your auction. The VinylBid Security Squad
will then send a priority e-mail to your buyer letting him/her know that they
are being reminded to pay their seller, and that if they do not respond to both
you and us within 5 business days, they will receive a negative feedback rating
and/or be suspended from our site for a period of 30 days. Step
3: Once it has been determined that you are dealing with a "deadbeat"
bidder, fill out our Credit Request Form
so that VinylBid can credit your account for the amount of the commission for
your unsold item. Be sure to post negative feedback on the high bidder's feedback
profile. Upon receiving your Request Credit Form, VinylBid will make a decision
upon whether or not to suspend the buyer from the auction site for a period of
30 days. Any member who receives a net rating (defined as # of positives-# of
negatives) of -2 or two suspensions in the same 12 month period shall automatically
have their membership relinquished. Also
see our Fees & Credits section for specific
information regarding such circumstances. |
| Refunds
& Credits? | We
will provide credit for the amount of the Closing Fee charged to a seller
under certain circumstances. Credit may be warranted if the following occurs,
and you have followed our procedures to amend the situation: - Nonpaying
Bidder: You are unable to contact the winning bidder within five (5) days
after the close of the auction; see What if I can't get a hold
of the winning bidder? Make sure you follow our procedure before applying
for a credit.
- Buyer Performance:
Buyer fails to meet the terms specified in your item listing (e.g. buyer's check
bounces; buyer is unwilling to pay in the manner set out in the auction description.)
If
you feel you deserve a credit, please fill out our Credit
Request Form. We must receive this form no later than 30 days after the
end of the auction in question. We are unable to process credits after the 30
day period. |
| How
do I find my Closed Auction page? | After
the auction has ended, you will need to find the Closed Auction page in order
to obtain your buyer's e-mail as well as (once you have received payment and sent
your item) leave feedback on your buyer. This can be done in one of three ways:
- By entering your username into
the "Search by Seller" box on the Advanced Search page
and choosing the "Show Closed Auctions for Seller" option.
- By
entering the item number into the "Search by Item Number" box on the Advanced
Search page.
- By accessing it through
the URL provided to you in the Closed Auction e-mail (VinylBid automatically sends
this out to you once your auction closes.)
|
| How
do I promote my VinylBid auctions? |
In order to maximize the chance for a successful
closure of your auctions, it is important to promote them through as many avenues
as possible. The following is a quick summary of the methods by which you can
go about doing this: - Use
our Community Links section to reach specific
message-board communities online.
- Tell
as many people as possible about your auction; friends, acquaintances, DJs etc.
- Get
on public chat boards and give people a link to your auction; you'll see an immediate
response!
For instructions
on how to link to your auctions, please see How do I link to
my auctions? below. |
| How
do I link to my auctions? | There
are two ways by which to link to your auctions; either to a single auction,
or to a list of all your auctions. For
a single auction, use the link provided to you after you submitted an item
for sale (you can also find this in the automatic e-mail sent after you posted
the item.) To obtain a link to a list
of your auctions, follow the following procedure: - Go
to the "Account" section;
- Click
on "Find Auctions I Posted or Bid On" in the Account Services menu;
- Enter
your username and click on "Show Auctions";
- Click
on the "All My Open Auctions" link;
- Copy
the link appearing in the 'address' field at the top of your browser window;
- Post
this link on message boards, online chats, and newsgroups to promote your auctions;
it's that easy!
